softGear™ is a future facing technology platform that creates new ways to acquire, process, manage and distribute content. It offers video, audio and metadata processing microservices on commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and not only complements existing hardware-based workflows but enables the transition to software-based on-premise workflows as well as cloud environments in the future.
Within softGear, algorithms are encapsulated using modern container technology, targeting CPU or GPU rather than FPGA or DSP, and media processing engines are deployed as microservices instead of dedicated physical cards. OS-level virtualization architecture allows for the integration of IP from other companies that would not otherwise be possible. A common user interface framework through DashBoard ensures that softGear is extremely user-friendly for operators everywhere.
