Why Hire Professionals
There are over half a million drones currently registered with the FAA today, so why not hire the neighbor kid when you need a quick real estate video, or need to shoot some quick photos to update construction progress? Here are a few reasons:
FAA Regulations
The FAA has established guidelines, that within 14-CFR, Part 107 making it illegal for anyone, without FAA certification to advance any business or enterprise using an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), more commonly referred to as a drone. That means even if you're not paying the drone operator, using footage, or photographs taken by a drone in flight, violate FAA regulations.
Flight Restrictions
Do you or your drone pilot know where it's legal to fly, and where it's prohibited? If the pilot cannot read this chart, and answer that question you can easily end up flying in restricted airspace. Chances are well over half the airspace in your city has at least some level of restriction. Your Part 017 Certified drone operator will know where it's safe and legal to fly and many have FAA authorizations allowing flight within restricted airspace. These authorizations currently take months to apply for and receive.
Liability
Accidents are almost inevitable. Even the most experienced and best-trained drone pilots have accidents. Equipment malfunctions, GPS signals fail, and drones can crash. When that happens, both the drone operator and the entity hiring the operator can face liability. Using professional, FAA Certified operators, who carry a minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance can go a long way toward minimizing your risk and responsibility.
Quality of Product
Chances are you need the footage or photos you're using to represent your company in the best light possible. Whether it's the real estate photos/video you'll be using to sell a home., the inspection photos needed for a client, or the aerial shots to be edited into your corporate video presentation, the quality of the images will reflect on you and your business. Professional aerial companies are knowledgeable not just in flying regulations, but also in image capture and editing techniques. This experience and knowledge will ensure the best possible product, and likely save you time and money in the long run.
